Dillon Honoured with 2019 API Planning Excellence Award

Congratulations to our Saint John team for winning an Atlantic Planners Institute (API) Planning Excellence Award, in the Special Research Study category, for the Eastern Charlotte Recreation Cost-Sharing Feasibility Study!

These awards honour the best in professional planning work undertaken by members in communities and regions across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador in four categories - Comprehensive Policies and Plans, Physical Plans and Design, Special Research Studies, and Public Outreach and Communication. The awards program also helps raise the profile of planning across Atlantic Canada.

The Eastern Charlotte Recreation Cost-Sharing Feasibility Study is the first sub-regional recreation cost-sharing analysis within southwest New Brunswick, which seeks to determine the future orientation, design and feasibility of a new indoor multi-purpose recreation facility in Eastern Charlotte County.

Commissioned by the Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission (SNBSC) and led and managed by Dillon, the study established recreational programming opportunities and priorities associated with management and capital and operational expenditures to sustainably develop recreation facilities in southwest New Brunswick. The study developed a working cost-sharing model that can be adapted to fund and manage multiple recreation facilities and programming opportunities across southwest New Brunswick. Key findings and recommendations from this study will be used as a long-term planning guide for the implementation of a Sub-Regional Recreational Facility Board to manage recreation facilities, associated services, and programs that will benefit residents and visitors of southwest New Brunswick.
