Joe Cormier at PMI NB’s Professional Development Day

Joe Cormier (Dillon) and Tyler O’Rourke (Port Saint John) will be breakout session speakers at the Project Management Institute New Brunswick (PMI NB) Professional Development Days in Saint John, NB held May 22-23, 2019.

Joe and Tyler’s session will focus on the best management practices for Port Saint John’s major construction project - the West Side Terminals Modernization Project. They will discuss the challenges they’ve faced during the project, the importance of a transparent client/consultant relationship, and best management practices to successfully achieve the overall project goal. The modernization project will allow for continued import and export growth in the city and prepare for the future by extending the existing wharf face to accommodate larger vessels; introducing new operational systems and technology to increase operational efficiency; updating the existing container yard, intermodal yard, and truck gate areas; and deepening the main channel to accommodate the larger vessels and increased operational windows for other sized vessels.

Joe is a civil engineer-in-training based in Saint John, NB. He has experience in water and wastewater projects, coastal hydrodynamic studies, and flood vulnerability assessments. He has project experience along coastal regions of Atlantic Canada, including New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, as well as southern regions of Ontario. Joe’s project work has included project management and coordination, stormwater management design, and construction observation services.
