Calgary, situated in southern Alberta approximately 80 km east of the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains, is the largest city in Alberta and the third largest by population in Canada.
Famous for being the home of both the Calgary Stampede and the Calgary Flames, it is also located near a number of major mountain resorts, and is a hotspot for tourists. Calgary's economy is largely centred on the petroleum industry, with agriculture, tourism, and the high-tech industries contributing to the city's rapid economic growth.
